Peggy Olson, the rise of women in american business world

Yesterday I watched the last episode of Mad Men. Since last night, I've been thinking in Peggy Olson, one of the female characters played by actress Elisabeth Moss. In my opinion, she represents the rise of women in the american business world, a world dominated by men. She rises from just a secretary to a thinking head.

In this season, she gets to buy an appartment with her boyfriend, a man who gets paid worse than she is. At this point of the drama, she is one of the most important creatives in the company and rules a team of creatives, mostly men.

This rise has also been showed by her fashion style. She's now far more stylish than she was in the beggining of the drama, when she worked as Don Draper's secretary. Below these lines you can see some photos that show this change (clic on to enlarge):

"I'm just saying you only get one life. There's no God, no rules, no judgments, except for those you accept or create for yourself. And once it's over, it's over. Dreamless sleep forever and ever. So why not be happy while you're here. Really. Why not?"
